| Situated immediately north of Siena, the Municipality of Monteriggioni extends for 99.49 square kilometers and has an overall population of almost 9,000. Of them, only about 50 still live in the old centre, the ancient fortified village of Monteriggioni. The rest of the inhabitants are concentrated in several of the territory’s hamlets, such as Strove, Abbadia Isola, S. Colomba, Lornano, Uopini and especially Castellina Scalo, Badesse and the area of Tognazza-San Martino-Fornacelle. |
